The Val Verde County Fire Rescue organized in 1998 with only 1, 1973 Mack Engine and 2 Army Trucks with no pumping capabilities. With the aid of a grant in 1999, Val Verde County provided us with 4 fire stations with 3 bays in each station and 5 quick attack trucks.

We have now increased the size of the fire station on Cienegas Road to house 13 fire vehicles and have added a training room, kitchen and break room.

As of this now we have:
  • 1 75 foot Ladder Truck
  • 1 4,000 Tanker
  • 1 5,000 Semi Water Tanker
  • 1 Cascade Truck
  • 1 Mobil Command Post
  • 1 Rescue Truck
  • 2 Command Trucks
  • 2 Engines
  • 3 Quick Attack Trucks
  • 7 Brush Trucks
These fire vehicles are utilized in protecting the citizens in a vast 3,300 square miles of rough territory.

The communities Insurance Service Office (ISO) rating has been lowered from a 10 (lowest possible rating) to a 6-8.

We have had 4 firefighters go on to receive Fire Fighter of the Year at Wintergarden District Fireman’s and Fire Marshals’ Association.
