Purpose
The fundamental / primary duty of the Val Verde County Court-At-Law is to efficiently serve the citizens of Val Verde County with fairness, integrity, compassion and respect in all judicial matters in accordance with the laws of the State of Texas.
Cases
The Val Verde County Court-At-Law hears both civil and criminal cases.
Civil
In civil cases, the Court hears probate matters, and cases where there is a claim in damages up to $250,000. The Court further considers protective orders. In domestic and juvenile cases, the Court has concurrent jurisdiction with the District Courts.
Criminal
In criminal cases, the court may hear all Class A and B misdemeanors.
