Mission Statement
The Val Verde County Attorney's Office will provide professional, ethical and cost efficient legal services to Val Verde County in civil matters. In addition, the Val Verde County Attorney's Office represents the State of Texas in criminal matters which fall within the jurisdiction of the Val Verde County Court-at-Law, the Val Verde County Court and courts of the various Justices of the Peace.

Purpose
The Val Verde County Attorney's office is responsible for a wide array of legal functions for Val Verde County and the State of Texas, some of which include:

• The office reviews, authorizes and prosecutes violations of class A, B and C misdemeanor criminal laws of the State of Texas.
• In addition, the Val Verde County Attorney's Office represents the State of Texas in criminal matters before the County Court-at-Law, the County Court, Justice Courts and on appeals in the Fourth Court of Appeals.
• They represent victims of family violence in obtaining civil protective orders before the County Court-at-Law, 63rd and 83rd Judicial District Courts.
• They represent and provide legal advice to the Val Verde County Commissioners Court members, elected and appointed officials and other county departments in a professional, competent and ethical manner.
• The office collects hot checks for local merchants and helps secure the restitution to which victims are entitled.
• The Office of the County Attorney does not provide legal advice to the general public.
